Who's Bithiah?
Bithia had a very short appearance in the Bible. She was an Egyptian princess and a daughter of Pharaoh. She was the foster mother of Moses, drawing him out of the Nile river and giving him his name. She claimed him as her own and cared for him. Though the Bible only mentions her briefly, she made a huge impact. She loved this child and cared for him as if he were her own.

I do love this connection to adoptive mothers (& fathers).
ReplyDeleteMy Chosen Child by Linda Paige Tolis
"Once upon a time I held a child
Whose eyes did not match mine.
Whose hair was of a different color,
whose smile was just divine.
This child was not born of my womb,
but given by another,
for me to love and give a home,
and one day call me 'Mother.'
No greater gift I will receive
or cherish more than this.
Thank you, Lord,
with all my heart,
for granting me my wish!"
